Dee-fence Surrey, dee-fence!

I haven’t ranted much about Surrey on these pages for a while. Their performances in their last seven days – played over ever-decreasing durations – do not leave me with any great feelings of joy.

In the past week, Surrey has:

  • drawn a Championship game with Gloucestershire after scoring 603 and enforcing the follow-on;
  • beaten Yorkshire in a day-night National Leaguer by three runs;
  • failed to defend a fifty-over total of 358 to lose to Hamphire in the C and G Trophy quarter-final;
  • conceded their second and third Totesport League 98’s in a week as Derbyshire knocked off their 45-over target of 261.

Ally, what is this crap?

Tonight, the Greatest Team In The History of Twenty20 Cricket locks horns with Warwickshire at The Kennington Oval. I do hope this corrupting influence on their game comes to an end and that they lose this one 🙂 (Live audio from BBC Radio London from 2.30am Tuesday Sydney time – and no I won’t be staying up for it!)
